Progressive Victory (PV) is an American, non-profit political organization founded in 2022. Progressive Victory works with various left-wing Twitch & YouTube content creators in order to activate audience members into a highly motivated volunteer base committed to promoting progressive politics throughout the United States. Working alongside the Democratic Party, PV’s State Organizing Program educates members on the political landscapes of their respective states and directs them to participate in a wide variety of political activities, from local phone banks to large-scale canvas events attended by hundreds of members. The most recent event took place between October 5th-6th, 2024 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with the goal of promoting the Kamala/Walz and Tammy Baldwin campaigns, resulting in 291 PV members knocking on over 24,000 doors.

Progressive Victory was founded in 2022 by Samuel Drzymala. Drzymala, a political professional of 20 years, got into founding Progressive Victory after watching the online live-streaming space on Twitch and recognized a lack of progressive political mobilization in a space with young, politically-engaged progressives[1]. Progressive Victory's canvassing efforts often include activities such as phone banking and canvassing events to reach and encourage potential voters to vote, with their canvassing events costing around $1 per door knocked.

Sam Drzymala, a political professional for about 20 years, founded Progressive Victory in [2022?]. Drzymala

naturally flow from there so my background is as a political professional I've been working in politics for about 20 years I grew up in Missouri ended up working for a bunch of Missouri politicians I I basically just went back and forth between working on electoral campaigns and then I would go to Congress working for members of Congress and I'd go back on electoral campaigns and uh and I I always did digital media and I I've worked for people across the ideological Spectrum I'm like uh you know a bit of a RAR test there but I uh always have been uh my goal has always been to see people represented and much more accurately by their by the people who they're elected to uh who elected to represent them and and I've seen digital media as a really powerful way both to do that and also to build power around the structures that are trying to keep people out uh and away from having themselves represented so that's been my focus the entire time I've been working in politics and the way that I got into founding Progressive Victory is actually just by watching it's just by watching the live streaming space there I I could just see so much happening uh I I was watching as there's been a lot of experiments that have happened uh combining media and like really strong media operation who media publishers and and uh and political operations like I think Justice Democrats that they don't people don't talk about this that often now but it originally was conceived of as a as a completely linked between YouTube channels and uh and a and a political organization that was meant to try to elect uh people and uh and I've admired that model for a very very long time and as live streaming specifically has exploded in popularity I've been super super interested and I I got the opportunity to do some experiments around working with live streamers for electoral to help uh help work on electoral outcomes in the 2022 midterms uh and uh we founded this organization that is an effort we called pv22 Progressive Victory 2022 and uh and we worked with a few live streamers uh the largest one we work we're working with at the time his name is vosch your audience may be familiar with him but he's a brand himself as a Democratic Socialist uh and he he drove a ton of young people into a Discord community that we started that where we were starting to uh provide people with the resources and the training to uh to um to contact voters directly and make an impact on electoral outcome so we we did a bunch of events in the primary uh for and in the general for uh summer Lee and then in the general election we we did this massive uh canvasing and phone banking operation where in about two months through this Discord Community we got uh 5100 uh volunteer shift signups and contacted 290,000 voters and that's really really impressive for such a short amount of time and it it cluded me that this was something that was not just a flash in the pan it needed it to continue and so we're treding to scale this up for 2024 and see how big we can get both being active both in the primaries and the general election and uh and so far it's been super super successful and uh and really really exciting we see incredible response rates when people are in a live audience because they can interact directly with uh the the people who are making the media and they can Mention 1 dollar per door knock again

Progressive Victory routinely uses phone banking as part of its strategy to reach voters for office races and ballot initiatives. One notable case was Ohio's Issue One in August of 2023, which would require new constitutional amendments to win 60% of votes cast rather than the simple majority of 51%. Critics of Issue One stated that this change from a simple majority would make it nearly impossible to pass any future ballot initiatives, including abortion protection measures that would appear in later elections. Progressive Victory relied on phone banking to reach voters who would likely oppose Issue One and provided them with information on how to register and where to vote. In the following year, Progressive Victory has focused Phone Banking on reaching voters that have potentially contested registration status in states such as Georgia. These campaigns gained traction in lieu of wide sweeping changes to voter registration that made it easier for votes to be challenged, even though voters were still technically registered. A particularly controversial example is the use of the tool EagleAI to automatically mark masses of voters in Georgia as inactive. Phone Banking volunteers seek to counter this voter rights issue by informing people of their inactive status and providing assistance in fixing their status.
