Political Landscape of New Hampshire

Partisan Composition of New Hampshire

Overall, New Hampshire is considered a slightly blue state, with a Cook PVI of D+1 as of 2022, regularly voting for either party in statewide races, though usually blue. Their governor is a Republican. Both their US Senators and both their US House seats are held by Democrats. Republicans also hold majorities in the state house (198-195-3 with 4 vacancies) and state senate (14-10), giving Republicans a trifecta (as of 2/10/24).

Progressive Outlook for New Hampshire

The overall progressive strategy for New Hampshire is optimistic. The main strategy should involve keeping the state blue on the federal level while flipping it blue on a state level. As the state house is MASSIVE and the state is small, contributing to individual state representative races will make a major impact. You could even run as one yourself! The state does not allow for citizen-led ballot initiatives. As the state is a semi-closed primary, make sure to participate in whichever one makes the most sense for your area.
