Welcome to the Missouri state page! Here, Missouri organizers can access and document ongoing projects, current leadership positions, upcoming races, and other important information. This list is non-exhaustive, and state teams are encouraged to expand and adapt these pages to their organizing needs.

Political Landscape of Missouri

Partisan Composition of Missouri

Overall, Missouri is considered a red state, with a Cook PVI of R+10 as of 2022, regularly voting 55-60% Republican in statewide races. Their governor, both US Senators, and 6 of their 8 US House seats are held by Republicans. Republicans also hold majorities in their state house (111-51) and state senate (24-10), giving Republicans a trifecta (as of 2/10/24).

Progressive Outlook for Missouri

The overall progressive strategy for Missouri is troubled. The main focus for progressives here should be on harm reduction, blunting the Republican legislature via citizen-led ballot initiatives and making sure progressives occupy blue seats in the US House while waiting for federal help. As Missouri is an open primary state, it is suggested to take a Republican primary ballot and vote for moderate Republicans in the primary to further reduce harm.
